Video generation
Create short video clips from a text prompt, optionally guided by a starting frame, a last frame or reference images. Choose the model, shape, resolution and length.
Video Generation turns a description into a short clip: a store walk-through for a launch page, a product close-up for social, a background loop for a presentation. You can steer it with images - the exact first frame, the frame to end on, or reference pictures of a product or style - and choose from several leading video models.
Create a video
- Open Video Generation
Go to Apps and choose Video Generation. The New video screen opens.
- Describe the video
In PROMPT, describe the shot: the camera movement, the scene, the light, the action and the feel. For example:
Slow cinematic dolly shot across a bright modern retail store at opening time: warm morning light, a store manager in a charcoal apron checks a tablet showing yellow bar charts and smiles, shelves of neatly folded knitwear, shallow depth of field, soft film grain. - Add images (optional)
Under IMAGE ATTACHMENTS:
- Starting frame - the clip begins on this exact image.
- Last frame - the clip ends on this image.
- Reference images - up to three pictures of a product, person or style the video should match.
- Choose the model
Pick a model under MODEL. Veo 3.1 is the default.
- Set the output
Under OUTPUT SETTINGS, choose the Aspect ratio, the Resolution and the Duration. The options change with the model: Veo 3.1 offers 16:9 or 9:16, 720p to 4K and 4 to 8 seconds, while Seedance 2.5 adds 4:3, 3:4, 21:9, 9:21 and 1:1, 480p, clips of up to 30 seconds, and up to 50 reference images. The duration slider starts at the model’s maximum, so set it before you generate.
- Generate
Select Generate video. The video is made in the background, so you can leave the page and carry on with other work. Come back to it when it is ready.
The result
When the clip is Done, it plays on its own page. DETAILS lists the model, aspect ratio, resolution, duration, the cost in credits and the date. PROMPT shows exactly what you asked for, with Copy so you can reuse it for the next variation. Select Download to save the file.
From chat to camera: the film we made
Our own brand film was made this way. We asked Claude Opus 5.5 in chat for three reference images, then for four Seedance 2.5 prompts. Each image was downloaded and added here as the Starting frame, with Opus’s prompt pasted in and ByteDance Seedance 2.5 selected:
Models
- Veo 3.1 (the default), Veo 3.1 Fast and Veo 3.1 Lite
- ByteDance Seedance 2.0 and ByteDance Seedance 2.5
- Sora 2 Pro and Sora 2
- Wan 2.7
- HappyHorse 1.1
Models differ in style, motion and how closely they follow a prompt. The best way to choose is to try the same prompt on two of them at a low setting and compare.
Credits
Video generation is noticeably more credit-intensive than text. Keep that in mind before you queue up many variations. The cost of each clip is shown in its DETAILS once it is done, so you always know what a result took.
Tips for better clips
- Write it like a shot list. Camera move first (“slow dolly”, “static close-up”, “aerial pull-back”), then the scene, then the action.
- One action per clip. Clips are short; a single clear movement reads better than a sequence of events.
- Name the light and the texture. “Warm morning light”, “soft film grain” and “shallow depth of field” do a lot of work.
- Use a starting frame for consistency. Generate or pick the perfect still first (see Images and image editing), then animate it.
- Match the shape to where it will play. 9:16 for phone-first social, 16:9 for web pages and slides.
